How to Use Tickers

What is a ticker? How do I create one?

Tickers are cute little graphics you can create that track something (like a pregnancy or baby's age) or countdown to something (like a birthday). A lot of people like to add these tickers to their profiles on sites like MySpace and Facebook or include them at the bottom of posts they make to Internet message boards.

Creating a ticker is easy. First, you pick the type of ticker you'd like from our Tickers page. Then you'll get to choose a background and a slider, or icon, that will move across that background. Finally, you can customize your ticker with your own text or photo.

How do I add a ticker to my message board signature?

On many message boards, you have the option of including a signature at the bottom of your forum posts. Usually you'll find this option in the "preferences" or "profile" area of the site. Once you've created a ticker, we'll give you the code you'll need to add.

Every message board site is unique. Some allow HTML (the code that is used to make web pages), others only a simplified version called BBCode, and still others will want you to just put in the URL of the ticker image you want to use. All three options will be provided to you once you create a ticker. If you're having problems with a particular message board site, try looking through their help pages for more info.

How do I add a ticker to sites like MySpace, Facebook, a blog, etc.?

MySpace and most blogging sites will let you add your own HTML, which is the code that is used to make web pages. For example, on MySpace if you click on "Edit Profile", you're able to paste HTML into the About Me box. We'll give the HTML you can use for this once you've created a ticker.

On other sites, like Facebook, you can't add HTML directly. However, once you've create a ticker, we'll give you links to these sites that will make adding your ticker to them easy.
